Duo Alan Grezl & Palo Nowak

We’ve been performing together since 2015. Our music is shaped mainly by the tradition of Spanish flamenco—but we don’t see it as a strict set of rules. For us, it’s a living, open language. Our repertoire includes classic flamenco styles (palos), original compositions, and free, personal interpretations that blend flamenco with other musical traditions.

We love creating a direct, spontaneous connection with the audience—our concerts are always a living dialogue between us and the people listening. At the heart of our sound are flamenco guitar, voice, and percussion, but we often enrich it with instruments like the Arabic oud, Armenian duduk, West African djembe, or the ngoni harp. Sometimes we also perform in collaboration with dance.

Broken Flamenco

A fusion of flamenco, duduk, and the gravity-defying breakdance of Kristian Mensa. Kristian (aka Mr. Kriss) is a Czech dancer and illustrator known for his highly original and unconventional work. I always enjoy performing with him—thanks to improvisation, every collaboration is fun, completely fresh, and full of surprises, whether it’s a concert or a dance workshop.

One of the highlights is Picasso Dance for ARTE TV, produced by La Blogothèque and filmed in Paris in 2023. Other performances include Mimefest in Polička (2022), Sensi.Dance in Berlin (2024), Colours of Ostrava, and live accompaniment for dance battles at KoresponDance in Žďár nad Sázavou (2023, 2024), among others.

Duduk and Arabic lute

A fascination with the modal music of the Orient—with its traditional instruments, unusual sound colors, and rich ornamentation—led me to the Armenian duduk.I first heard its deeply melancholic tone in a film, long before I knew what the instrument looked like or even what it was called.

In 2015, I began studying the duduk with Armenian virtuoso Tigran Aleksanyan, who became not only my teacher but also a close friend. Through him, I discovered the world of traditional Armenian music, the old songs of the ashugh, and the deep poetry hidden within this instrument—an instrument that is both technically and expressively demanding.
